Internet Explorer 5.0 Setup Wizard

1. Click on Start.
2. Click on Programs.
3. Click on Accessories.
4. Click on Communication or Internet Tools.
5. Click on Internet Connection Wizard
6. When the Wizard opens choose the 3rd option:
I want to set up manually, or connect using a LAN. Then click next.
7. Choose 'connect through my phone line and modem'. Then click next.
8. Add our LOCAL Dial-In Phone Number here.
Area Code (315)...

For example...
Auburn: 612-5800 or 237-3500,
Syracuse: 579-5800 or 233-3500

9. Should say United States of America (1) ; Have a check mark in front of: Dial using Area and Country Code.
10. Then click on the Advanced Button
11. Click on Connection Tab:
Make sure there is a dot before PPP (Point to Point Protocol)
12. Under Log On Procedure
Make sure there is a dot before NONE
13. Then click on Address Tab:
14. IP address:
Make sure there is a dot before ISP automatically provides one
15. DNS Server Address:
Make sure there is a dot before: Always use the following
Enter the following:

Primary DNS: 209.2.141.2
Secondary DNS: 205.232.46.2

16. Click OK. Then click Next
17. For user name enter YOUR username@bci.net (lower case)
18. Enter YOUR password (lower case) Click Next.

19. Enter BCI, For Connection Name, Click Next

Internet Mail Account

1. Set up your Internet Mail Account, say yes. Click Next.
2. Put a dot before Create a New Internet Mail Account. Click Next
3. Enter Display Name; as you wish it to appear, when sending email. Click Next
4. Enter your Email Address YOUR (username@bci.net ) Click Next
5. Make sure the Incoming Mail Server is a POP3 server.
6. Incoming and Outgoing Mail Servers need to be as follows: mail.bci.net Please enter for both ( lower case). Click Next.
7. Enter your Password if you want your password saved, check box Remember Password.
Click Next.
8. Uncheck the box to connect automatically to the internet.
9. Click Finish.

To Send Mail:

1. Double Click Outlook Express
2. Click on New Mail button in the top left corner. Fill out the address, subject, and message
3. Click on the Send button in the top left corner to send the message

To Check your Mail:

1. Make sure your folder is on the Inbox
2. If it isn’t, click the Inbox in the column to the left
3. Click on the Send and Receive Button.

To Setup your Home Page:

1. Double Click on: My Computer-Control Panel- Internet Options
2. On the General Tab Under Home Page type in: http://www.bci.net or any other home page you would like
3. Click Apply in the bottom right corner then click OK.
