| Cat Resting Shelf Helps Shelter Felines Feel Safe!
Did you know that when a cat enters the shelter environment the first thing she wants to do is hide
or get away from everything? This simple, but very ingenious, Cat Resting Shelf helps a cat do just that.
It actually gives the cat a "second story" worth of space to live on. And, we all know how cats like to
be higher (it's that sense of entitlement every cat has!) so this shelf helps fulfill that need.
Additionally, the Cat Resting Shelf provides a space for the litter box that makes it impossible
for kitty to dump it and her little kitty kondo area can remain clean and neat for her.
We would love to supply each kitty with a Cat Resting Shelf. If you are interested in donating one (or two or three!)
they can be found at www.animal-care.com. The cost is $45 plus a small amount for shipping and handling.
We purchased one and the total came to less than $58 - and our kitty loves it! They are made of very
durable plastic and will last for years! Please help a kitty feel safe and secure in the Shelter
environment while waiting for her new home by donating a Cat Resting Shelf! Thank You!

Please Help this Special Needs Girl
Mona came to the Shelter in late winter as an owner surrender. We actually talked her owner into leaving her with us
because his intent, after she was spayed, was to throw her into a snow bank (his words) and let her fend for herself.
Well - that just wasn't going to happen to this beautiful little girl - so he willingly left her with us. We discovered
today that Mona has feline asthma - a very treatable - but somewhat costly condition to treat. We have purchased Mona's
"puffers" and fully intend to keep her supplied with all the puffers she needs - but we could really use some help with the cost.
Mona is a beautiful little girl (just look at that picture!). She is gray/white medium-haired with the most beautiful green eyes
we have seen in a long time. She is a highly adoptable kitty. She is negative for FIV/Leukemia, is spayed, is up to date on all
of her vaccinations and has just had a check up at the vet's office. Aside from the asthma she is very healthy. And - she is a
lover! Because Mona is a special needs adoption, there will be no adoption donation/fee for her for qualified individuals.
If you can help with Mona's medication, please let us know! Or if you are interested in an up close and personal meet and
greet with this beautiful little girl, come to the Shelter and see for yourself what a wonderful feline companion she will make!

We Got a Shed!
Thanks to our wonderfully generous friends Jerry and Lisa and to an anonymous donor, we have
been able to purchase a new shed! Right now we are working to get permission to place the shed
on the Shelter property but are hopeful that will not be a problem and soon we will have it in
place. Stay tuned for a picture! As sheds go - it is awesome! We can't thank our extraordinarily generous
donors enough! From the animals (and staff too) - THANK YOU!!

Your Gift can Make a Difference!
Anytime is the perfect time to give a gift in someone's name. A gift your recipient will
surely be proud of by knowing that a homeless animal will benefit from this act of kindness. What better way to show your love for animals than a monetary donation
to help support our homeless friends. A gift can be given in your name to a loved one, in memory of someone, or
as a general donation.
Your online donation is truly appreciated. |

October 2008 marked the 1st Anniversary of our Shelter's collaboration with SOS -
Shelter Outreach Services - in providing spay and neuter services to low-income pet owners and those caring
for feral and stray cats. Our October 24, 2008 clinic was also a milestone in that our clinic has reached
the magic number of 500 (508 to be exact!) spays and neuters performed. We are very proud - and especially
proud of the lives we have saved!

We're at Petco!
Our Shelter now has an off-site adoption event at our local PetCo (across from the Finger Lakes Mall) every
other Saturday from 12 noon until 4 pm. We recently had our inaugural event there where our sweet and beautiful
Penny was the star of the show. Penny was adopted and went home the next day - Yeah for Penny! Want to thank our
wonderful volunteers George and Tanja for spending their Saturday afternoon promoting our Penny and our Shelter
animals and to PetCo for hosting us. Just seems like a win-win for everyone! Thank you! Larger photos... |

Employer Matching Gift Programs
Another way to Help Us!
Does your employer have a Matching Gift Program? If so, it is an excellent way
to double your donation to the Finger Lakes SPCA of Central New York. For
example, if you make a $100 donation to the Shelter and you send us paperwork from
your employer, we will send in that paperwork and your employer will match your
gift! How easy is that!
Please check with your employer's Personnel Office to see if they have such a
program - and if they don't - why not ask them to explore the possibilities!
Thank you for all you do for the Finger Lakes SPCA of Central New York! |

Thank You George & Tanja
On Saturday May 2, our wonderful volunteers George and Tanja Cosentino, hosted a
garage sale at their home to benefit our Shelter. George and Tanja participated in the annual Lake
Avenue-long sale and all of the proceeds from the sale were donated to us! There were throngs of people
from early in the morning until mid-afternoon. Here are some pictures of shoppers looking for bargains
and of course, two of the three Cosentino pups, Emmitt and Zoey. Emmitt is a recent Shelter graduate -
and he appears to be really fascinated by all of the "stuff" that keeps appearing in his living room!
THANK YOU TO GEORGE AND TANJA for all of your hard work! We really appreciate it.
