  Unsolicited E-Mail  (SPAM)

 

 Unsolicited commercial email -- "UCE," or "spam,"  is any commercial electronic mail message sent, often in bulk, to a consumer without the consumer's prior request or consent.

  • If you have received a spam message or any abuse from another BCI member please refer to information below. Then click here to send to  BCI Abuse Staff

If you are reporting an email abuse or Spam mail abuse please include:
1.) Original subject line.
2.) Complete headers- Full headers will include a "RECEIVED:" line with an ip address (ex. 205.258.58.22). We cannot complete an investigation without this information. Click Here for Information On Full Headers
3.) Complete message body- Please include the complete, unedited body of the message as you received it.

If you are reporting unauthorized access attempts, please be sure to include:
1.) Logs of the incident.
2.) Include the IP address of the offender.
3.) Include the date, time and time zone when the incident occurred.

  • If you have received an unsolicited spam message that you wish to report, please forward the message to the ISP from which the e-mail originated, not BCI, as we are only able to take action against our own members.  For information on identifying the ISP in question, click here.
