Making a shortcut on your
desktop is for an easy
connection to BCI without
opening a browser or a mail
program. It is also useful
to have in case you ever need to
change your local dial-up phone
number without changing it
permanently. It is a
temporary change to the phone
number for the one connection
time only.
To
make a shortcut on your desktop,
open My
Computer. In My
Computer, open Dial-Up
Networking. Once Dial-Up
Networking is open, you will see
an icon for your dialer to
BCI. It might also be
called My Connection.
If
you right click one time on the
dialer icon, a small menu will
open. If you scroll down
this menu, you will see 'Create
Shortcut'. Highlight this
option and left click on it.
You
will then receive an error
message that states that a
shortcut could not be made here
and would you like it to be
placed on the desktop?
Please click yes. Then
close Dial-Up Networking and My
Computer. On your desktop,
there should now be an icon that
is called 'Shortcut to BCI' or
'Shortcut to My
Connection'. If you double
click on this icon, a connection
box will open for you to click
connect to start the dial.
